2020 marks 50 years since Huntingdon Grammar School converted to being Hinchingbrooke School and moving part of the school over the road to Hinchingbrooke House and new buildings.
This was an important development for Huntingdon and its young people and an unusual one – the creation of a large comprehensive school in a stately home and park.
The Hinchingbrooke Alumni Association has decided to mark this event by holding a reunion for former pupils and staff on Sunday, October 4th, 2020.
The outline programme for the event is as follows:
From 12 noon, meet in Hinchingbrooke House for a welcome drink, followed by an informal buffet in Hinchingbrooke House Assembly Room and Library. A licensed bar will also be available.
After lunch, there will be tours of the school grounds and buildings, ending up at the Performing Arts Centre at about 3.15 p.m. for a slightly more formal occasion, followed by tea and cake, ending by 4 p.m. at the latest.
The event has been planned so that people who live some distance away from Huntingdon may be able to make the journey here and back home comfortably in the same day, with enough free time to make contact again with former friends and colleagues.
The HAA committee very much hopes this will be an enjoyable and well-supported event and we would ask for your help in making it known to any other former pupils and staff who might be interested.
